12/19/16:Class Assignment
1. Click on the buttons below to read about the Bahamas, to study the map of the Carribean, and to study Columbus' routes in his first voyage.
2. In 5 minutes, draw a map of the Carribean Islands. Neatness matters, yet precise curves of the boundaries does not matter. The goal is to get a sense of the islands and their locations relative to each other
3. Clarify what the textbook and "500 Nations" said about Columbus' explorations. Where is Hispanola? Where is San Salvador? When did he visit these places? Write your answers on a sheet of lined paper and turn it in.

9/14/16: Class Assignment
Assign each artifact to a space in the Venn Diagram. For example, we thought that the brooms should be in all three cultures; so, I wrote "broom" on a post-it and put it in the section that includes all three cultures. However, someone thought that canoes would only have been used in African and Native American cultures, so they placed a post-it note with the word canoe in the section that includes only those two cultures, not European. Please complete the labeling and placement of all the artifacts in the Venn Diagram.

The Archeological Dig:
Shockingly, the students discovered buried artifacts in the garden. It will be their job to figure out the cultures to which they pertain and to explain the importance of those items.
